About Patricia Mikkelson

Hi. I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, and I struggle with pride, food issues, anger, co-dependency, and other challenges. I’m Patricia.

This is how I share when I am in a small group at my Celebrate Recovery events. And this is how others share as well–not the same issues, not the exact words–but similar.

I started attending CR on August 5, about two weeks before I started this blog. I am so enthusiastic about CR that I want to document my recovery process as well as share all that I am researching about CR.  I have already done a ton of research on CR and Rick Warren and Saddleback Church. They have their share of enemies on line. I had my concerns just because of rumours I had heard from people who really have no credibility. But just the same, it is amazing how when  a person or an article plants a seed of doubt, how that seed can grow in to full blown prejudice.

I even attended another Christ centered 12 step program where the leader said something like this: “Celebrate Recovery is okay–but this program is so much better.” The person went on to say that the 700 chapters of this program was the largest in the U.S. But CR has 7000 chapters.

Okay, so I am an avid researcher, and a person who can get really excited about something and then realize that it is really not what it is cracked up to be. Fortunately, my deep research into Christianity when I had doubts two years after I surrendered my life to Jesus, just made me more confident that Jesus is the only way, that He is God, and that he died and rose again.

I have attended five CR events, including my step study, in the course of two weeks. As I research CR as well as attend events as well as talk to people, I am more and more convinced that this is the discipleship program I have been looking for my entire Christian walk.

I feel so blessed to be on this journey, and already have received so much encouragement. I hope that this sharing will inspire you to check Celebrate Recovery out. I would love to see you there!
